My celebrity experience!

My first business class flight and I ended up sitting 4 rows behind Rihanna.....can you imagine my excitement.... She was with her boyfriend Matt Kemp (they couldn't keep their hands off each other) and a small entourage of around 5 people. They were on their way to the EMA's and I was on my way to discovering a city that was new to me - the most touristic city of Spain....Madrid. Of course seeing the singer made the start of my trip that much more exciting but I couldn't quite understand why she was trying to be incognito with BRIGHT RED HAIR and big furry bag...honestly, these celebrities...lol :)

Sitting opposite Rihanna on the way to the plane....you should have seen the look she gave me after hearing my phone camera go snap! LOL

1 sneaky photo of the star and 30 blackberry messages later I was over my excitement and relaxed with a glass of champagne on my way to the city famous for Bullfighting, football and tapas.

The Ritz Hotel

20 minutes after leaving arrivals at Madrid airport my taxi pulled up outside the classic and beautiful Ritz Madrid Hotel- one of the original grand luxury hotels in Europe located in the heart of Madrid. The staff were very friendly and the bedrooms were classy and very comfortable. On the down side - the bathroom was quite small :( None the less - my stay at the hotel was great and I would recommend staying there if your looking for luxury accommodation. Room rates start from 250 euros per room, per night but it's well worth it!

So what did I get up to in Madrid?

Sight seeing ...striking a pose :)

Shopping (of course :) - The amazing boutique shops in the street of Serrano are open from Monday to Saturday from 10:00 – 20:30. This street is famous for all the high end designer shops and is the "Regent Street" of Madrid.

Tip: Put on comfy shoes as Serrano is a very long street!

If you're looking for less expensive places to shop, there are some great boutiques near La Puerta del Sol Square which is Madrid's most famous and central square. There are plenty of shoe shops and clothing stores that have some great items and amazing deals!

Food - La Buganvilla Restaurant or La Barraca are the places to go for quality paella and tapas. There are also loads of little take away places that offer delicious calamari dishes if your on the go!

An interesting thing I learnt about Madrid is that it's usual practice for people dining to throw their bones and tissues on the floor in restaurants. Still can't get my head around it!
